Phantom Brigade Modding
Parts/Subsystems reference page
So, you decided to start modding Phantom Brigade and have no idea on where to start? which files should you mod and so on? This guide has been made just for people who have no reference or not so accustomed to game modding (which is pretty normal; everyone needs some simple reference to start! :-) ).
This guide contains a spreadsheet with parts' name and reference as Phantom Brigade's 19th Update (June 21th, 2022) on Early Access Roadmap (see the "Spreadsheet access" section).
This means that, as some other updates may revamp the folder structures or parts filename, this guide may be inaccurate at any given moment and thus needing updates (which is why the spreadsheet file is for).
Before starting to read and modding with these references, we need to get accustomed with some acronyms used by the game's YAML filenames. We can call them Archetypes as well because it belongs to a category where some of these specified parts should belong:
wpn_main - the “father" of every weapon in the game. The word “main" used in the archetype doesn't mean it is solely a main weapon. The following in this archetype are:
r1/r2/r3/etc. - this acronym at the end of the filename defines the item's rarity grade as it follows:
01/02/03/etc. - The numbers that usually are displayed before the rarity acronym listed above, defines the weapon's variant. Each weapon/part has their own version under a given weapon/part category (rifles, railguns, handguns…).
internal_aux - Used for categorize every internal component of the frame in the game. The following items fall into this category:
internal_aux_vhc (reserved for Tanks/Sentry Turrets):
(?) - this question mark on the spreadsheet has been putted where it is not clear the real purpose of that file. Could be either a part archetype or just a tag for them into the game (eg. categorizing or defining an archetype/item category).
As I said before, I will make the spreadsheet public for people who want to mod mech parts and internal components in the game. This for getting a quick grasp of how things works and how to quickly recognize parts without spending a lot of time before guessing if the modded item is the right one (the guide about weapon creation in this wiki, for example, may speed another aspect of weapons modding).
The access is meant to be public for everyone, so the only access is only for those who know the link (the only place you can get it is only from this page and nowhere else). Google drive is known for messing up with formulas made on Excel, which is why is actually hosted on Microsoft OneDrive for better support.
Again, any contribute is very welcomed (you can directly modify the spreadsheet) and looking forward to receive feedbacks on the modding channel of Phantom Brigade for this. You can either ask the author there or in private (I accept only DM containing feedbacks!).
Hope it helps and enjoy the modding, Brigaders! :)
